Types of Refrigerant
R134a
Physical and chemical properties: R134a is a colorless gas with a slight ether smell at room temperature and pressure; R134a has a molecular weight of 102.03, a boiling point of -26.1°C, a critical temperature of 101.1°C, a critical pressure of 4.05Mpa, a liquid specific heat (30°C) of 1.51 [KJ/(kg•°C)], ODP=0, GWP=1200, and an ASHRAE safety level of A1 (non-toxic and non-flammable); R134a is generally compressed into a liquid and stored in a cylinder, and its thermal performance is similar to that of R12.
Main uses: R134a is mainly used in most areas where R-12 refrigerant is used, including refrigerators, freezers, water dispensers, car air conditioners, central air conditioners, dehumidifiers, cold storage, commercial refrigeration, ice cream machines, ice cream makers, refrigeration condensing units and other refrigeration equipment. It can also be used in aerosol propellants, medical aerosols, insecticide propellants, polymer (plastic) physical foaming agents, and magnesium alloy protective gases, etc. It can also be used to configure other mixed refrigerants, such as R404A and R407C.
R12
Physical and chemical properties: R12 is a colorless, odorless, non-corrosive gas at room temperature, and can be liquefied into a colorless, transparent liquid under pressure. R12 is non-toxic, non-flammable, and has good thermal and chemical stability; R12 has an expansion effect on ordinary plastics and natural rubber.
Main uses: R12 can be used as a refrigerant, fire extinguisher, insecticide, spray, etc. As a refrigerant, it is widely used in refrigerators, freezers, central air-conditioning chillers and other refrigeration and air-conditioning fields.
R22
Physical and chemical properties: R22 has a molecular weight of 86.5. It is a colorless, nearly odorless gas at room temperature. It is non-flammable, non-corrosive, and extremely slightly toxic. It can be liquefied into a colorless, transparent liquid under pressure. It is a HCFC refrigerant. R-22 has high chemical and thermal stability, especially in the absence of water; it does not react with general metals below 200°C. In the presence of water, it only reacts slowly with alkali, but it will crack at high temperatures.
Main uses: R22 is mainly used in household air conditioners, commercial air conditioners, central air conditioners, mobile air conditioners, heat pump water heaters, dehumidifiers, refrigerated dryers, cold storage, food freezing equipment, marine refrigeration equipment, industrial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, refrigeration condensing units, supermarket display cabinets and other refrigeration equipment. Dichloromonofluoromethane can also be used as a raw material for the production of polytetrafluoroethylene resin and an intermediate for fire extinguishing agent 1121, as well as a physical foaming agent for polymers (plastics).
